The Little Things
Every angler has had those days when no matter what you try, you don't get a single bite. Or maybe you get a bite, but you're landing nothing. Maybe you can even see the fish, and feel like you'd be better off jumping in the water and catching them by hand, but with a rod and reel, you're catching nothing.

Some fishermen consider it a bad day when they are only catching small fish. We all know those fishermen and the various phrases they use in frustration at the small size of their catch. Maybe you're that fishermen. What I'm going to attempt to do is to change your mind about small fish. To try and encourage you to find the joy in the little things.
I find that even a day of catching small fish can be a great day and is still miles better than drawing a blank. After all, if you're attempting to catch all the species in a body of water, you'll have to catch the small ones too. If I am drawing a blank on the bigger fish, some days I will resort to micro rigs and floats so that I won't go home empty-handed. There are some very amazing looking small fish, and after all, the post that kicked off A.C.F.C. was a small fish.
Some species will always be small, and they vary from region to region, from salt water to fresh water. We have to remember that even record-breaking monsters started off as something the size of a minnow. Something that an unsuspecting angler might have landed at the size of a hand and thrown back in to grow into a legendary size.
So the next time you head out, remember that there's nothing wrong with small fish. Sometimes, you just need to enjoy the little things in life.
